Gobble Gobble Entries are Open, 2025
Gobble Gobble Invitational Entries are open!
Entry Deadline: Sunday, Nov. 9, 3:00 pm
I know this is a short turn around, but they just sent us the meet file.
This invitational is a small one up in the Poconos. However, it is a good chance to get in some different events than what you might swim at a dual meet. So, choose your own events, but please consider:
- Choosing one or two second choice or distance first choice events your swimmer might not normally swim at a dual meet... OR
- Choosing an extended event you might be looking to qualify for at CHMC or Districts, but will only get this chance and maybe at the PennDel Distance meet to compete in... OR
- Choosing an event you never swam before. This is a good meet to try something new... OR
- If you did not compete at the Boyertown Boo or one of the Spooktacular meets, or did not get a base time for a "50 Free" or a "25 Free", or any of your "core" events actually, ONLY then should you choose to swim it at this meet.
It is very important to think about the purpose of attending each meet. If it is not a team meet or "mandatory attendance declaration" meet, then driving more than hour away, sitting there all day, and to just swim what you always swim is not really productive. It runs the risk of burning kids out near term (they resist going to meets or swimming events that are necessary for their growth because they competed in too many while just doing the same events over and over again), and risks burning them out long term (they quit the sport because they felt like they never got a break and 90% of their swims will NOT be best times, so it is emotionally taxing).
Therefore, I DEFINITELY promote attending invitationals, but be strategic about which ones you attend and plan out for the season which events you'll swim at each. If you're not sure what to do, feel free to email me.
Meet Info Packet is attached.
See you on deck,
Coach Drake
