BEST TIME BEADS (BTB), EST. 2009
Revamped to BRAG TAGS, 2023 (sometimes called bag tags or achievement tags too)
One of the unique things our team has done is the distribution of achievement beads, but in order to make them more relevant to swimmers we are revamping the program and replacing beads with tags.
Achievement tags, or "Brag Tags" have several advantages:
- The meaning of each is self-explanatory from each image. Previously, bead color shading and meaning was not easily ascertained by swimmers.
- Best time award labels are placed on the back of applicable tags too. Swimmers will know for which meets & races they received the tags for.
- Can easily be placed on cable rings, which then can be hooked on swim bags, viewed and referred to throughout the season.
- They are less likely to break on deck or be lost.
- Location on swim bags and self-explanatory meaning of each, makes them more meaningful to swimmers.
At Spirit Night, each swimmer will receive a NEYS Blue Fin dog tag. The design for the tag is provided by the winner of the Dog Tag Contest.
Display your dog tag with pride and spirit. Take care not to lose it.
Throughout the season, there may be team events that will warrant special tags.
As a swimmer improves their times, they will be rewarded with a Best Time Tags (BTT) for events in which their time improves.
In addition, there are tags for Team Records, Qualifying for Charlie Hartley & Districts, Coaches’ Decision Tags (Excellence, Sportsmanship, Team Spirit), and for participation at States and Nationals.
Times will be taken from both YMCA and USA meets and will be calculated chronologically.
A BTT chart is posted on this website, but tags generally are self explanatory.
Once each meet’s results are validated and the data is compiled, the tags will be distributed during practice the week after the meet. Any earned tags will be placed in your Swim Team Mailbox Folder.
Clip your tags onto your dog tag ring or carabiner.
This has become a Blue Fin tradition, so you can compare your achievement tags from year to year.
Good Luck to all of our swimmers for a successful & fun season!
