    NP @ NEYS Results, 2024

    Good afternoon everyone,

Sunday's dual meet against North Penn was a close one. Please see the previous meet synopsis email for the write-up.

    North Penn @ Nazareth/Easton

    • Boys: 3-2, NEYS win
    • Girls: 3-2, NEYS win

Full results, improvement report, qualifying time (QT) report are attached.

Team Spirit: For consistent and enthusiastic cheering.

    • Karla Flores Ceja, Elena Bays, Wylie Maier, Jason Li

Sportsmanship: For demonstrating honor, fairness, and appreciation towards competitors. This could be from shaking hands after a race, to conversations overhead by coaches between competitors, to any other observed actions that may fall into this category.

    • Alexa Mance, Ariel Rangel, Aden Chen, Krithik Beemannagari

    Excellence:

    • Violet Wieller: Violet had a very good start with an impressive reaction time in her 50 Breast, which gave her a lead off the block. However, she did even better by building that lead, applying the stroke technique we've been working on in practice, and dropping more than 2 seconds to take 1st place. More than that, she also posted another best time in her 50 Fly and qualified for Districts. Well done, Violet!
    • Reagan van Horne: In the 50 Back, Reagan had an improved and excellent underwater breakout and turn. This separated her from the competition, dropping 3 seconds, getting 1st place, and qualifying for Districts. She followed that up with a similar performance in the 50 Fly, but this time dropping 4 seconds, getting 1st place, and qualifying for Districts. Way to go, Reagan!!
    • Gabe Maier: On two occasions, in both the 200 Free and 50 Breast, Gabe had excellent finishes and drives to the wall. In the 200 Free, Gabe was slightly behind, but right at the flags he pulled even, kept his head down, kept up a strong kick, drove to the wall, and with at outstretched arm, out touched his opponent! Even better, he leaned right over the lane line and shook hands with the North Penn swimmer. A strong finish with good sportsmanship, just what the coaches look for. :)  Not just once, but twice!! In the 50 Breast, when some swimmers start to glide too much in anticipation of the race ending, Gabe shows he knows better. From the flags in, he kept up his strong stroke and pace, dug in hard, drove the wall, and in a photo finish, won the race! He beat his opponent by .03 seconds, that's 3/100 of a second, that is faster than a blink of an eye which only averages .1 or 1/10 of a second. We drill for good finishes in practices, its great to see it applied with success in a race. :)
    • Ian Barrey: Four swims, three wins ( + one exhibition at end of the meet), four District qualifying times; can't ask for much more than that. Good job, Ian!
