Volunteer Requirements and Work Bond Details

    Hello Blue Fins,

As the season is starting, this email will cover work bond requirements as well as giving an overview of the various volunteer opportunities that count towards the work bond.

When you filled out the packet at the Y you acknowledged that all families are required to volunteer for a certain number of slots. In the event that a family does not meet their work bond requirements the team reserves the option to charge a $100 work bond. Our goal is to NOT charge this work bond, but rather to have all families meet their volunteer requirements. We can't guarantee what that volunteer job will be so our recommendation is that if you find something you would like to do, sign up early.

This year the requirement will be that each family meets the following volunteer requirements, this has not changed from last year:

    • Family with 1 or more swimmer – 2 volunteer slots
    • Family with 1 swimmer who also swims for their high school – 1 volunteer slot
    • Family with 1 swimmer who also swims for their high school and 1 or more additional swimmers – 2 volunteer slots

*If you have a swimmer who swims for their high school, please let me know so I have that for my records.

You will have opportunities to volunteer at the dual meets, distance meet, champs, Charlie Hartley, Districts (if qualified), and other opportunities that pop up throughout the season. The meets are open so when you declare your swimmer, please volunteer.

For our home meets we will be asking for donations for our concession stand. The profit we make from the concession stands helps to offset the costs of the facilities and other expenses. Donations to the concession stand DO NOT count towards a family's volunteer requirements.

If you have a swimmer who is in the 10 and under group, we ask that you attempt to volunteer to marshal at least one time.

    VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

Swim meets offer the most opportunity and this is also where we need the most support. There are some positions that are only needed at our home meets. I am not going to list out what each of these positions do, but if you go into any of the meets under the volunteer sign up there is a description of each.

You can see a breakdown of the different swim meet jobs by clicking on the link below (scroll down near the end of the site)

Thank you for taking the time to read this email. We appreciate the parental help. The team cannot run without volunteers. If you are thinking about signing up for a job, go now and sign up since slots fill up fast. And at meets, make sure you find me and let me know you are there. If you do not, I cannot give credit for the volunteer slot. In addition, if you are at any other invitational and have volunteered let me know and I can give credit.

    Thank you,

    Greg Nungester
