Becoming a Swim Official
Hello,
Becoming a certified swim official is a great way to learn more about the sport and support the swimmers. This is also a great opportunity to get on deck for every meet that you volunteer to officiate.
Getting certified requires that you take a class specific to the role you are interested in and then successfully complete a written exam on the content from the class. All of the information covered is detailed in the USA-Swimming Rules and Regulations (www.usaswimming.org)
For those who are new to officiating and interested in getting certified, becoming a Level 1, Stroke/Turn would be the first role for you. You can review the list of upcoming in-person and/or virtual trainings that are available and register to attend using the link below.
https://www.penndelswim.org/page/calendar#/team-events/upcoming
There are some upcoming classes that have available slots - 10/8, 10/13, 10/15
For any experienced level I officials who are interested in moving to level II there are also some clinics available for you to attend. Also for any current level II official please remember that you must attend the annual Penn-Del refresh clinic for referees and there are some of those clinics posted.
If you are more interested in the dry side of officiating there is also the opportunity to certify as an Administrative Official (AO) and there are classes currently posted for that as well.
Anyone interested in becoming an official who has questions that I haven't answered here please reach out and I would be happy to connect with you.
Thank you,
Kevin
