NEYS Post Season Explanation
Hello All,
NO practice on Monday, Feb 5th.
Enjoy a day of rest before we start training for CHMC and Districts. :)
Starting on Tuesday, practice is only open for those who plan on attending CHMC and/or Districts.
In addition to maintaining your YMCA membership, there is a required post season swim team fee:
- $20 for those attending CHMC (2/6 - 2/24).
- Additional $20 for those going past CHMC (2/25 - however far you go, Districts or States); $40 total.
- $20 total for high school swimmers regardless if they attend CHMC or Districts.
- CHMC, Districts, States, and Nationals all still have their own fees; the above is just to offset our team's extra coaching costs post season.
There are four different post season swimmer categories. Review the category descriptions underneath to figure which one your swimmer fits into.
- Not going to CHMC or Districts, and NOT attending any more meets until after April 6.
- Not going to CHMC or Districts, but attending an invitational on your own (non CHMC/Districts) before April 6.
- Qualified for CHMC and is attending. Sign up pronto, so we know. You can change your events before I submit them; I'll keep you updated.
- Qualified for Districts or beyond and is attending. Sign up pronto, so we know. You can change your events before I submit them; I'll keep you updated.
1. If a swimmer is not going to CHMC or Districts, they may NOT attend practice with the team during post season.
- Take a break from swimming, return when the Spring session starts. :)
- Attend End-of-Season Awards Dinner on April 13.
- Spring session info will be posted in late February/early March.
- Summer swim options will be emailed in March too.
2. If a swimmer is not going to CHMC or Districts, but attending an invitational on their own, they may NOT attend practice with the team during post season.
- If attending an invitational, most will accept paper/email entries if you contact them, but will likely charge more per event.
- We can process entries for you if given enough time; it saves you money and is preferred by all host teams. However, this is on a meet-by-meet basis as a courtesy.
- You may train on your own any time there is an open lane for lap swimmers, including right next to the team in the 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm time block.
3. CHMC swimmer:
- Regular practice days, times, and groups.
- If there is a need to change times/groups, we’ll let you know beforehand.
- $20 per swimmer post season practice fee paid to the YMCA to offset extended season coaching costs (2/6 - 2/24).
4. District swimmer (relay or individual):
- Regular practice days, times, and groups.
- If there is a need to change times/groups, we’ll let you know beforehand.
- $20 per swimmer post-season fee (2/25 - 3/24)
- Finalization of District relays determined after CHMC. I'll send the initial relays on Monday, so potential alternates know who they are and may train. Again though, relays are subject to change, and they always change, especially after CHMC.
I know it can be confusing, so feel free to ask me if you are not sure.
See you deck,
Coach Drake
