Dog Tag Contest, Beads/Brag Tags Revamp

    Good evening Blue Fins family,

One of the unique things our team has done since 2009 is the distribution of achievement beads. However, in order to make them more relevant, easier to display, and meaningful to all swimmers, we are revamping the program and replacing beads with tags; see attached images.

Achievement tags, or "Brag Tags" have several advantages:

    1. The meaning of each is self-explanatory from images on them. Previously, bead color shading and meaning was not easily ascertained by swimmers.
    2. They can easily be placed on cable rings, which then can be hooked on swim bags, viewed and referred to throughout the season while on deck.
    3. They are less likely to break on deck or be lost.
    4. Since the reason each was earned will be easily known and since they can be displayed on swim bags at meets, they will be more meaningful to swimmers.

Reminder: We STILL have our dog tag competition, and the winner's design gets to be the team Blue Fin tag for the year

DEADLINE to submit designs: Monday, 10/30.

    • Make a 2 inch colored drawing with your name on the back
    • Design sheets were placed in swimmers' mailboxes too
    • Hand to or put in team mailbox of Kevin Rizzardi or Coach Drake

Display your "brag tags" with pride and spirit. Take care not to lose it. :)

How does a swimmers earn one?

    • Team social events that warrant special tags will be given to participants.
    • Best Time Tags (BTT) for events in which swimmers improve.
    • Team Records
    • Qualifying for CHMC, Districts, States, and Nationals
    • Historical Top 10
    • Coaches’ Decision Recognition (Excellence, Sportsmanship, Team Spirit).

Once each meet’s results are validated and the data is compiled, the tags will be distributed during practice the week after the meet. Any earned tags will be placed in your Swim Team Mailbox Folder.

This has become a Blue Fin tradition, so you can compare and memorialize your achievement tags from year to year.

Good Luck to all of our swimmers for a successful & fun season!

    See attached docs for examples.

    See you on deck,

    Coach Drake
