Volunteer Requirements and Work Bond Details
Hello Blue Fins,
This email will cover work bond requirements as well as giving an overview of the various volunteer opportunities that count towards work bond. After this initial email Greg Nungester ([email protected]) will be your main point of contact for volunteer questions throughout the season.
When you filled out the packet at the Y you acknowledged that all families are required to volunteer for a certain amount of slots. In the event that a family does not meet their work bond requirements the team reserves the option to charge a $100 work bond. Our goal is to not charge this work bond, but rather to have all families meet their volunteer requirements. Our commitment to you is that if you have a desire to volunteer and you communicate that to Greg he will work to get you a slot. We can't guarantee what that volunteer job would be so our recommendation is that if you find something you would like to do, sign up early.
Due to the size of our team this year the requirement will be that each family meets the following volunteer requirements:
- Family with 1 or more swimmer – 2 volunteer slots
- Family with 1 swimmer who also swims for their high school – 1 volunteer slot
- Family with 1 swimmer who also swims for their high school and 1 or more additional swimmers – 2 volunteer slots
*If you have a swimmer who swims for their high school please let Greg know in an email so he can include that in his records.
You will have opportunities to volunteer at four dual meets, distance meet, champs, Charlie Hartley, Districts (if qualified), holiday social, end of season banquet and there might be some other opportunities that pop up throughout the season.
Also, we have been awarded the bid to host our Madison Division Champs this year and that will create additional needs and opportunities for filling volunteer positions. More information about those opportunities will be communicated later in the season.
For our two home meets and for champs we will be asking for donations for our concession stand. The profit we make from the concession stands helps to offset the costs of the facilities and other expenses. Donations to the concession stand DO NOT count towards a families volunteer requirements.
If you have a swimmer who is in the 10 and under group we ask that you attempt to volunteer to marshal at least one time.
VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
There are opportunities to volunteer at swim meets and at social events. The swim meets offer the most opportunity and this is also where we need the most support. There are some positions that are only needed at our two home meets. I am not going to list out what each of these positions do, but if you go into any of the meets under the volunteer sign up there is a description of each.
