YMCA Rules Reminder for Swim Team
Hello all,
Since I've received several reports of incidents in the last two couple of weeks, this is a reminder to the team, a reminder I send about once per year, so the rules below are NOT new:
Children age 11/Under are not allowed to be unsupervised while at the YMCA. If your child, or the child you brought to swim practice, are waiting before or after practice they MUST stay with the parent or adult who brought them. Per YMCA rules, any unsupervised child may be asked to leave the facility with the parent/adult, and not allowed to return unless consistently supervised. If this becomes a persistent problem, those swimmers will lose the chance to participate on the swim team until they are consistently in compliance. If playing in the gym, the parent must be in the gym supervising. At no point should 11/Under children be allowed to roam any part of the YMCA facility unsupervised.
Swimmers are NOT allowed to play in the pool directly before or after swim practice. If not for swim practice, they would not be there in the first place, especially at those times/days of the week. The swim team is the draw to join, but we will not be the cause of problems or misbehavior in the YMCA. Therefore, in order to ensure other YMCA members are respected, and it is obvious just by looking through the window, that there is space for other YMCA members to swim or to relax in the pool, swim team members are prohibited from play in the pool directly before or after swim team practice regardless if the parent is there or not. Swim team members may enjoy the pool recreationally any other days or times during non-swim team hours, just like any other YMCA member would.
If you have any questions, please feel to ask me for clarification.
See you on deck, :)
Coach Drake
