NEYS - Qualifying and Event Choices

    Good evening everyone,

Since we have less dual meets this year, and there are LESS events per dual meet, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you sign up your swimmer to compete in invitationals. In particular, I recommend the Gobble Gobble (deadline: Nov. 6th, 1:00 pm), if you missed the Boyertown Boo

If there is a main event, or a first choice, your swimmer would definitely like to qualify for in Districts or the Charley Hartley Memorial Championships (CHMC), you should sign up for the Gobble Gobble. There is no guarantee your swimmer will get the chance to swim it more than once in a dual meet. Dual meets are based on team considerations, not individual goals. For example, if you want to qualify for the "50 Breast" there are only two dual meet chances to do so..., IF I put you in it, which is not likely, considering the number of swimmers we have (153) for the number of events in a dual meet (72).  IF YOUR swimmer is thinking "It's too early in the season." My response is, "No, it is not." Many kids, particularly ages 7-14, qualify early when they least expect it, and/or for swimmers of ALL of all ages, they'll know for certain how far they need to go and create a new goal for themselves.

As a result, again, I recommend the Gobble Gobble Invitational, and focus on your swimmer's first choice, or best events.

Please know, every swimmer will compete at least twice, but not more than three times, at dual meets; as is our league requirement.

    See you on deck,

    Coach Drake
