Captains’ Responsibilities
- Relay team concerns to the coaches.
- Assist in maintaining team morale, such as leading cheers.
- Assign meet and practice set-up/tear down activities to team members in a fair and consistent manner (lane lines, backstroke flags, scoring table, timing devices, deck & pool debris clean up, chairs, tables, kickboards, etc.). Although the parents mostly do this in meets, you will still need to attend to them in practice and assist during meets.
- Implement the coaches’ directives.
- MUST attend at least 2 dual meets.
- Attend practice at least once per week in some capacity. It can be for practice, or if just coming from high school practice, assist the coaches at the YMCA. See Coach Drake for options or if you have questions about practice attendance.
- MUST be willing to attend a post season championship meet. A captain does not have to go to all of them, or even every day of ones held over several days/sessions, but if they qualify they must be willing to attend at least one post season champ meet.
- Maintain positive working relationships with parent volunteers and assist when necessary.
- Always set a good example in your actions on and off the deck, in and out of the pool.
- Provide support to our younger swimmers, inspire our older swimmers.

- Be willing to abide by all Captains’ responsibilities (see above).
