NEYS - Team Swim Cap Orders

    Team Swim Cap Orders

Please place your orders online for our team caps on our Team Store, located on our website.

    • Silicone Cap Cost: $8 (will say $0.00 in your cart, but that's because you pay at the YMCA, not on the website).
    • Latex Cap Cost: $6 (will say $0.00 in your cart, but that's because you pay at the YMCA, not on the website).

    • Do NOT pay at the YMCA until the caps come in. Once they are in, we'll send another email.

    Notes on racing swim caps:

    • Purchase one if you have long hair.
    • Optional if you have short hair (see below for what that means).
    1. They do not keep hair dry, nor do they keep chlorine out of hair. Hair may not be soaked, but some water almost always gets in.
    2. Actually, the best way to put a cap on is to put a little water in it before placing on a swimmer's head.
    3. The purpose of a racing cap is to keep long hair contained and to reduce drag. So, most kids may want to get one team cap for competition, and purchase another cap (or two) at A&H or Swimoutlet.com for practice.
    4. For swimmers with short hair, as in you use clippers to cut it, at this level of competition it's more about "feel" than less drag. To be sure, a smooth dome cap designed for racing has less drag than a even a bald head, but for most age groups kids who have shortly cropped hair, wearing our standard team cap...., for some it "feels" faster, for others it "feels" slower. It depends on the swimmer if they prefer to race with it or not.

Currently, we only have 80 silicone caps and 30 latex caps, so please limit your initial order to just one cap you'll use for competition. If there are some left over, we'll keep selling them throughout the season.

    See you on deck,

    Coach Drake
